KS2 Problem Solving Event Spring 2020
On Thursday 13th February parents and carers from KS2 were invited into school to join their child in some problem solving maths activities. The junior hall was laid out with a variety of activities ranging from ordering numbers on a number line, programming Beebots, exploring the notion of tessellation and a variety of problems which solved logical thinking and coding. A table displaying information and resources was available which proved to be very popular. Each classroom was also laid out with a selection of problem solving tasks and parents were encouraged to take a seat and join their child in some mathematical fun.
As I stood in the hall and walked between the classrooms you could once again feel the buzz. Parents were open in sharing their own feelings towards maths and it was encouraging to see the children support their parents when exploring new concepts and methods. A coded hundred square was tackled by many of the parents and it was positive to see everyone getting stuck in and not being afraid of making mistakes.
The supportive atmosphere allowed for rich conversations to take place between parents and carers and there was a real positive buzz around KS2. As you can see from the photos below fun was had by all!
