NumBot Day Spring 2020
Friday the 14th of February, 9am and the bell rang like any normal day, however nothing resembled a normal Friday at Pelham Primary when in walked over 200 scrap-heap robots. The children of KS1 and EYFS came to school dressed as scrap-heap robots in celebration of the launch of NumBots. NumBots is a programme designed to help children improve confidence in basic number skills (the foundation to all maths). The programme allows the children to practice number bonds, partitioning, addition and subtraction and exploring the notion of one more and one less.
The children took part in maths activities throughout the day and celebrated all things maths. The normal Gold Book assembly was overtaking and turned into a Maths Celebration Assembly were children were presented with a variety of maths themed certificates and individual successes were celebrated. Each year group had prepared a song which focussed on an area of maths and this were enjoyed by everyone who had the pleasure of watching.
Overall the day was a huge success with children speaking positively about maths. Staff and children enjoyed the day and it was wonderful to see KS1 being over taken by scrap-heap robots for one day only!
